I draw on a number of approaches, and have furthered my social work education with training in substance use counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy for Schizophrenia, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Non Violent Communication. These dynamic therapeutic approaches, in addition to my personal framework of a harm reduction, strengths-based, trauma-informed, restorative justice lens, have allowed me to further strengthen my practice, meeting my clients where they are at, and further develop my collaborative, client-centred approach to psychotherapy, mental health support, and system navigation.
“Harm reduction does not mean “meet people where they are & leave them there”. It means “meet people where they are, build relationships, set goals & then walk forward together” ... but not everyone ends up in same place. Harm reduction values their life regardless of destination.”
